Becky Buchanan makes large scale installations from found materials. These often have bold colours, repetition and shiny things.  They are a way to take part in the human and more than human world.  She is interested in transformation, power, play, grief and belonging.  

Becky was born in 1985, raised in woods and festivals and now lives in hackney, east london. She became an emerging artist from the diy underground scene. 

Previous residencies include Countdown Grabowsee (2015, 2021, 2022), Queer Britain (2024), The Palace (2024) and Studio459 (2025). She is a member of art collectives @taa_london (2019) and @zhuzhtheyog (2024).

Becky's artwork features in the permanent collection of queer britain.  she was awarded a scholarship for the 2024/25 cohort of The Other MA, an artist led postgraduate education and exhibition programme. Her work has been published in SLUICE (2024) on alternative art schools and Lumpen on working class culture (2019, 2022).  She has completed short courses at morley college and city lit including: wearable sculpture, experimental film, creative non fiction writing, photography and social media. 

Becky is currently using her postgraduate skills in anthropology in the future ruins and new worlds reading group at the old waterworks.  This collective will produce a peer review journal and exhibition on the subject of worldbuilding..
